What is an echocardiogram?
An echocardiogram makes the use of sound waves to produce images of the heart to allow an insight into the beating pattern of the heart and pumping blood to identify heart disease.
What does a mobile echocardiogram assess?

- Presence of many types of heart disease like valve disease, myocardial disease, pericardial disease, infective endocarditis, cardiac masses and congenital heart disease.
- Progress of valve disease over time.
- Effectiveness of your medical or surgical treatments.
How is a mobile echocardiogram conducted by Medex?
The cardiac sonographer who will handle the echocardiogram machine will explain the procedure and use three electrodes that are attached to an electrocardiograph (EKG) monitor helping to chart the patient’s heart electrical activity. A sound-wave transducer will be guided over several areas of the chest. The sonographer and the assistant technician will help the patient to change positions several times during the exam to evaluate different areas of the heart. The test will take 40 minutes and the report will be provided within 24-48 hours.
